INTRODUCTION


This course exposes students to the basic understanding of elements and principles of design. Students will be trained in all basic aspects of design, graphic principles, media of presentations, types of drawings, lettering, sketching, 2D & 3D drawing techniques, complete presentation drawings and model making. This course also trains students to enhance their creativity and perception through design process that involves the development of design concept, the application of design principles and problem-solving approach and thus effective communication of design ideas. By integrating the skills of design with the basic knowledge of structure and services, material, construction methods and simple costing, the transdisciplinary guided students are expected to be able to design objects and sustainable small-scale building from early planning stages right up to the production of presentation drawings with the clear understanding of the contribution of various disciplines in the built environment.
 
OBJECTIVES


The course aims to train prospective students in the field of built environment to appreciate the value of aesthetics through design that consider the various fields of knowledge in built environment and use it as an important aspect in the planning and creating of objects, space, and small structures in sync with the environment.

PROJECT 6: AMPHITHEATRE STAGE

        PRESENTATION BOARD


When I heard DR.Mazran explain this project I'm start nervous. Why???Why?? because for me this is biggest project for us. We need co-operate together to complete this project. The title for this project is DESIGN & BUILD AMPHITHEATRE STAGE. So we need to design and construct the model of amphitheatre stage. I'm fell so lucky because I'm in group 1 and my studio master is awesome lecture that is DR.Mazran and all my group member are very talented such as Puteri,Joshua,Nadia Zaini,Firas Azmi and Chai Mei. All of them are very good in design team. Event I'm also in design team but I really learn from them because some of them from diploma in architecture so their have many experience. 

The duration was given 6 week for us to finish up this project. So all of us very give commitments for this project. For 2nd week we need to present about our concept and design. We had meeting almost everyday and stay up to complete this. I start felt sleepless and so tired. Yeahh my life turn to be like Zombie and my eye turn to be Panda. So design team complete the presentation board while the non-design team complete the progress report to submit on Friday. I'm glad and happy everyone cooperated well to finish up this.

WORKSHOP: WATER COLOR




OK after we send our project 5 all of us got special workshop by  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aldrin Abdullah (Dean of HBP). He teach about  'Perspective Sketching & Colouring Skills' :)




PROJECT 5: SENSE OF PLACE 

( NEIGHBOURHOOD & COMMUNITY)


For this project, we need to choose one of these 6 neighbourhood area: 
  1. Bayan Residences, Relau, Penang
  2. Sunway Mutiara, Batu Maung, Penang
  3. Sunway Bukit Gambier, Penang
  4. Siara 81, Sg. Ara, Penang
  5. Sunway Merica, Sg. Ara, Penang
  6. Setia Greens, Sg. Ara, Penang
For this project we are required :

  • To enhance students' understanding basic elements and components of neighbourhood planning through their observation of the existing neighbourhood area.

  • To enhance student's understanding of the main physical and non-physical factors that should be considered in planning and designing a layout plan for neighbourhood area.

  • To expose the students with basic planning technical knowledge.

  • To enhance students' ability in critically analysing the common issues of neighbourhood or residential area development to its surroundings.

  • To expose students to the task of gathering information in their planning related studio projects.

  • To improve students' skills in analytical thinking, sketching, rendering, colouring, writing description and composing graphical images.

 This project I choose Siara 81,Sg Ara. Below I shown my site analysis

 PROJECT 4 : PRESENTATION DRAWING


 BLUEPRINTS

After done project 3B now we need to draw blueprints. For this project, we are required to produce a elevations plan such as front, right, left and rear elevation drawings of our wooden L-shape chair We have two task to complete for this project :


  • plan and elevations drawings
  • axonometric drawing and perspective drawing

Fuhhh it many time i try to rotate this picture but it can't. Event my friend also do know why my pic can't rotate.. Im so SORY because of this. Let rotate your head also..huhu  :)











PROJECT 3: SPECIAL MENTION

Alhamdulilah my work finally rewarded. My sculpture was selected by Dr.Mazran. I very shock when my friend WhatsApp me and she told me to see RUS104 link at special mention. I'm trully happy to see my sculpture to be displayed in this RUS104 link:


             

This picture shown my sculpture. this is the final result of my sculpture. I'm just use spoons to creat my sculpture and it took 4 day to finish it.




   WORKSHOP: WATER COLOR


For this workshop we need to use water color as our medium because many of us don't know how to handle water color . So as beginner we need to use wet wash color technique.

NURUL NADIAH BINTI ZAINI one of architecture student shown us how to use water color technique.

 Student start practice to use water color.. Practice make perfect :) 


                                               RAPID SKETCHES: LIFE



Morning MONDAY..morning studio class..after send the project at morning than my mind was thinking what should I do in this afternoon..fuhhh sound so good but it scared me... why??? because we've been informed that for afternoon studio class, we should go to Dataran Bintang by 2.30pm. We need to bring along 2B & 4B pencils and 7 pieces of A3 Cartridge papers......

When 2 people stand in front of me i very scared because I'm not good at drawing but I try to sketches this two people action in a short time. GOOD or NOT all of us should sketches because it considered as test. So sad when i heard this.Hope i get a good mark event i don't how to draw..

PROJECT 3: OBJECT CREATION

                   PROJECT 3B: OBJECT CONNECTION AND    L- SHAPE CHAIR


This is the first group project for us.This chair was design by Yii one of my groupmate. At 1st we come out with our own design L-shape chair and we already discuss to choose the simple and easy for us to construct and making the model L-shape chair. So our team was agree to choose this design because it simple and it suitable if we want to place near at pond. the most importance it is the "UNITY" concept of wooden L-shape chair

The material that we use is Balsa wood because it easy to handle n shaped.

We use Buncho poster colour instead on the Balsa wood to get more effect. Finally we presented on paper A3 with the appropriate scale..

This is our final product the "Fish Bone" L-shape chair. We are very satisfied the end this product. Thank you my friend we also "UNITY" team :)

PROJECT 3: OBJECT CREATION

PROJECT 3A: A FREE-FORM SCULPTURE

 No more drawing for this project.This project quite challenge because we actually have only 4 days to do this project before go Pimpin Siswa on Friday. (STRESS! feel like going home )

At first I want to make a structure with a combination of triangle and the structure moving like spiral but it failed because i have no time to create and design it properly. My feeling go down & I fell so stress. Time is very important for this project. Everything I do my mind also think how to create a new design. I start to cry at the night because I know i don't have enough time for this project . Hey girl be strong take it as challenge for you .Yes keep smiling and think positive :) 



Next day while I'm eating my mind and eye start focus at the spoon. I got a new idea to use this spoon as my medium for this project. The most importance is how to make it look harmony. By the repetition and the arrangement of spoon it will create the harmony concept. The material that I use for this project is spoon, glue (UHU), polystyrene (as a base) and water colour (black).

Alhamdulilah finally  it done with successful. Thank Mom and Dad that always give me advice and encourage me to continue and end up this project. :)

PROJECT 2 : NATURAL & MAN-MADE STRUCTURES

The second project student should apply shadow and light on the drawing. We required to use pencil sketching technique on a natural structure which we could found in USM. For this project 2A I already have chosen a small bamboo tree in front of E40.

PROJECT 2B: MAN-MADE STRUCTURE


I choose the bridge that connects to HBP to block E40 or also known Resource Centre.
This is because the function of resource centre for student HBP. This place provide many references and good facilities for us.
